Question: What Are Your Favorite Fly Fishing Rivers?

I'm putting together a summer vacation with a couple of fly fishing friends and was wondering where you would recommend fishing?

Do you have some favorite rivers out West that you like to fish?

Thanks,
Ryan K.

California

Answer: Ryan,
Thanks for checking in. As far as out West, I'm not sure how far you want to travel but there are plenty of great fly fishing waters out here.

If money (and gas expenses) weren't an option, I'd head to Big Sky Country, but there are plenty of solid fisheries right in your own back yard as well.

As far as some of the rivers I've written about and enjoy fishing when I can, here are some popular links:

Some of my favorites rivers in California are:

Merced River
Who knew there was good fly fishing in and around Yosemite National Park?

American River
Fly fishing can also be as fun as the rafting on the American River in Northern California.

Yuba River
Another fine fly fishing water located in Northern California.

But if I could, I'd head to Montana:

Rock Creek
One of four outstanding rivers near Missoula Montana, which is also lucky enough to have the Blackfoot, Clark Fork and Bitterroot.
