Prosser Creek Reservoir Near Lake Tahoe and the Nevada-California Border

Prosser Creek Reservoir is one of three reservoirs (Stampede and Boca are also located nearby) that make up the Truckee River drainage system and is located at more than 5,800 feet. The creek and reservoir are known as two of the better fisheries in the Lake Tahoe Area.

Techniques for Fishing Prosser Creek

If you're looking for rainbows or brown trout, you've come to the right place.

Prosser Creek and the reservoir are known for these two popular species of trout.

When you're not wading the creek, try float tubing the lake, using elk hair caddis or parachute adams if they’re on the surface in the mornings and evenings.

Go with sinking lines and pheasant tails or midge larva during the days.

How to get to Prosser Creek Reservoir

The lake is accessible via Interstate 80 or Highway 89 north of Truckee, Calif.

Camping is allowed on the west shore, although this stretch of can get somewhat crowded on weekends in the summer.
