A helpful fly shop could help turn a good fly fishing trip into an amazing one.
A couple fly fishing pointers here, a few go-to patterns there, and before you know it, a helpful shop could have you fishing like the resident pro.
Here's one entry in a series on my favorite fly fishing shops.
If you're ever in their neck of the woods, be sure to check 'em out.
Quotable
From the shop: "The Grizzly Hackle has the area's finest guiding staff, a dedicated crew that has introduced thousands of anglers - beginners and experts alike - to the trout of western Montana. Each guide is an accomplished nympher, dry fly fisherman, and oarsman, but more importantly, each has the river and life experience to make a day on the water a rare gem."Grizzly Hackle Fly Fishing
The professional guides at Grizzly Hackle are lucky enough to have four world-class rivers at their fingertips, including the legendary Blackfoot River, a national treasure made famous by Norman Maclean's "A River Runs Through It."
Then there's the historic Clark Fork, which runs right behind the fly shop, the timeless Bitterroot River and lesser-known Rock Creek.
Firsthand Experience
And you can bet the staff at Grizzly Hackle will put you on some fish, even if you don't use their guide services. Their Web site has a ton of reports and fly fishing essentials, too, if you don't have time to make it in the shop.
But if you do have time, I recommend stopping in because these guys fish these four rivers daily and know the ins and outs of their runs better than anyone. And there's a great little coffee shop next door to warm up your hands and your stomach before you head down to the river's edge and get on all those trout Grizzly Hackle has pointed you to.
