A helpful fly shop could help turn a good fly fishing trip into an amazing one.
A couple fly fishing pointers here, a few go-to patterns there, and before you know it, a helpful shop could have you fishing like the resident pro.
Here's one entry in a series on my favorite fly fishing shops.
If you're ever in their neck of the woods, be sure to check 'em out.
Central Coast Fly Fishing

Brian MilneBased in Carmel, Calif., Central Coast Fly Fishing owner Geoff Malloway is passionate about two things: fly fishing and preserving the precious fisheries in the Golden State.
His Big Three, which he probably enjoys protecting more than fishing, are the San Lorenzo, Carmel and Big Sur rivers - three historic steelhead waters that are in peril because of overfishing, pollution, etc.
While many fly fishing guides talk the talk, Malloway walks the walk and has shown his commitment to natural resources through his own work through the shop and his participation in countless conservation groups.
He's even said he'd be willing to turn in his own customers if they don't follow the region's strict rules and regulations.
Quotable
"What does 'a commitment to our natural resource' mean?" Malloway asks. "It means that I don't just write a check to belong to a conservation group. I get my feet wet and hands dirty on fisheries conservation projects, particularly where steelhead are concerned. I studied Natural Resources Management in college so I have an acute interest in our natural resources. My business depends upon healthy fisheries. That includes protecting our fisheries from those who would take advantage of them. Sometimes that costs me a customer or two, but that's what a commitment requires. The resources come first."
