Know Before You Go

Monday June 30, 2008
Ever wonder what your favorite river is looking like before you fish it?

Sure, weather.com might give you a good idea of what to expect as far as the forecast is concerned, but "75 degrees and partly cloudy" can only take you so far.

Enter, SierraVisions.com. Preparing for a trip up to the Kern River in Central California last week, I came across this helpful site, which even linked to a live video of the Kern River along with archived videos of daylight hours -- a handy feature considering I was surfing the Web at night.

There are plenty of sites like SierraVisions.com out there. Just do a search for your favorite fishery and be sure to include the phrase "webcam." But don't forget, nothing beats scouting your favorite spots like actually fishing them. So get off your computer and get out there and fish.
