Memorial Day weekend is almost here, which, for many of us, means it’s time for a little getaway into the backcountry.

Ryan K., from California, recently sent me an e-mail about some fly fishing destinations out West that I’d recommend for the holiday or summer season.

I could write all day about the great fishing opportunities out West, but I tried to narrow my response to a handful of rivers.

Although, no matter where you head this Memorial Day weekend, the fishing is bound to be good early in the season thanks to a rash of winter rains and some fresh trout plants out West.
