According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the ocean recreation salmon season will open on Saturday, April 6, 2013, from Horse Mountain, Humboldt County, south to the Mexico border.
The daily bag and possession limit is two salmon of any species except coho. Check out the state regulations page for more information.
The state also reported that nearly 35,500 chinook salmon returned to spawn in the Sacramento River and 21,500 returned to the Klamath-Trinity basins in Fall 2012.
State biologist estimate roughly 1.5 million chinook salmon will be in California coastal waters through this summer.
