(12/20 Update: As expected, this video was in fact a fake, created by 3D animation students at Centre NAD.)
I've seen some amazing video of eagles in the outdoors, but the video circulating today of the golden eagle that allegedly picks up kid at a park in Montréal for a brief second is unbelievable.
From time to time you'll see shots of bald eagles on the water, swooping down to pluck a salmon out of the stream. And I've heard from a few photo journalists who say a lot of those "fishing eagles" shots are staged by photographers who heave dead fish into the stream.
That said, I have to question the legitimacy of this one until the parties involved do a post-hawk kidnapping interview with a local news station or something.
But for now, take it for what it's worth, and keep your kids close when venturing out into the outdoors.
As far my craziest encounter with wildlife in the outdoors, that probably has to be the bear we ran into while fishing a local Central California lake a few years back.
I had just commented about how I'd never seen a bear out there, when this little guy comes barreling down the hillside for a bloated crappie that was floating his way.
It was pretty cool seeing a bear from our boat in the wild.
