Visiting a pair of local antique shops recently, I stumbled across matching fly fishing beer steins and couldn't pass up buying them both.
Because really, what's better than beer AND fly fishing?
The steins are handcrafted from Brazil exclusively for Avon. The larger stein is from 1978, and has cap for your toasts. The smaller one, which is more a beer sampler, is from 1983.
Both depict a scene of a fly angler setting a hook on a trout with the phrase, "The strike ... rainbow trout" on one side.
On the other side, a hunter walks with his best friend and the phrase, "At point ... English Setter."
Anyway, being it's the weekend, and I have some fine Belgian ales chilling in the fridge, I thought it would be a good time to share and see if anyone knew anything more about this particular line of steins.
And if you're looking for a beer recommendation, it doesn't get much better for fly fishers than Big Sky Brewing Company's line of craft beers. I'm a big fan of Trout Slayer Ale and Moose Drool Ale myself.
