U.S. Anglers Finish Eighth at World Fly Fishing Championships

Tuesday June 16, 2009
The Americans finished eighth among 27 countries this past weekend at the 2009 World Fly Fishing Championships in Scotland.

The U.S. team was made up of Josh Stephens of North Carolina, Anthony Naranja, Mike Sexton of Colorado, George Daniel of Pennsylvania, Pete Erickson of Idaho, and Devin Olsen and Lance Egan of Utah.

England won the event behind a first-place finish by Ian Barr, followed by France, which led most of the way.

Host Scotland won the bronze in its first event on its home turf. Check back later this week for an exclusive interview with U.S. team member Lance Egan, who talks about just how difficult it was fishing for trout and grayling on the Scotland's "lochs and rivers."
