Report says trout, salmon species face extinction
According to a study compiled by scientists at UC Davis, located in Davis, Calif., 65 percent of California’s salmon and trout species could become extinct within the next century.
The research was commissioned by California Trout, calling attention to the state’s 31 native salmon and trout species.
"I had a feeling that things were not good," UC Davis professor of fish biology Peter Moyle told the Sacramento Bee. "But I did not realize how many collectively were actually in serious trouble and how underestimated the threats to many of these fish were."
For our children and grandchildren's sake, I’m hoping this report doesn’t become a reality.
