Fly Fishing Tip of the Week
Saturday August 2, 2008
I'm starting up another occasional "series" if you will on useful fly fishing tips this summer, to help you get the most out of your last few fishing adventures before the fall. Here's the first of the tips, which I'll try to post on a weekly basis:
Don’t overdo it. Long casts aren’t needed on most of the streams fly fishers frequent.
Accuracy is more important than distance 99 percent of the time.
Focus on fish that are within 20 feet, which can be easily reached with a 7- to 8-foot rod and a nice easy cast.

Comments
Most of my fish (big ones too) have been caught within 15 feet. Don’t over do it, just keep it fun.
