People Who Fish: Ted Williams
Well, Memorial Day weekend is here and I’m sure you’re not reading this because you’re hopefully out and about enjoying everything nature has to offer.
But if you are reading, let’s pay tribute to the men and women for whom this holiday represents.
We might not believe in everything we’re fighting or have gone to war for, but there’s no doubt those who have done the fighting deserve recognition.
One of those faces who pops into my head on this Memorial Day is former Red Sox slugger Ted Williams, who some estimate lost 561 hits, 103 home runs and 382 RBI because of his first stint in the service.
Williams, for those who don’t know, was also a world-class outdoorsman and fly fisherman as you can read more about here.
