People Who Fish: Bob Knight
Former Indiana and Texas Tech coach Bob Knight is known for his crazy antics on the floor, but did you know the legendary hoops coach is also an avid fly fisherman.
Knight, now an ESPN analyst after retiring from Texas Tech, shared his love for fly fishing with an ESPN viewer just the other day, according to the Los Angeles Times.
“When you're casting a fly, you can miss where you're casting,” he said. “You just pick it up and cast it again. You never know if a kid is going to do what you've told him to do and actually, I've had flies that have reacted a lot better to my instructions over the years than a lot of the players I've had, so maybe I'm better at fly fishing than coaching."
Knight went 902-371 (.703) over his 43 years as a coach, so if he's a better fly fisherman than a coach, it's bad news for Mr. Rainbow.
