Take in a Fly Fishing Flick
When the weather turns and the fly fishing slows in the winter, I usually recommend that anglers try something new like taking in a fly-tying class, a lecture about the sport or a showing of an instructional film of some sort.
But after a couple months, all of the instruction starts to get a little old if you can’t get out there and enjoy yourself on the water.
That’s what’s intriguing about the Fly Fishing Film Tour.
According to AEG Media, the tour was founded in 2006 and is now stopping at 125 U.S. venues this year. In 2009, the tour is expanding to Europe and Japan. What’s different about this film tour is its tag of “no stereotypical instructional programs, period.”
All of which means their films – which try to focus on the adventure, excitement, humor and lifestyle of the sport – are actually entertaining, and aren’t solely educational. So if your brain is getting tired of tying all those flies, get out there and check out the film tour. You can find a list of scheduled stops here.
