Is '08 a Record-Setting Year?
Looking for a New Year’s resolution that’s out of the ordinary?
Try setting a world record in 2008.
The 2008 edition of the International Game Fish Association’s World Record Game Fishes has been expanded to include at least eight new species. As of this post, no record holder is listed for any of the new additions, which means you could catch the next world record and find yourself in the IGFA world record book.
New species added to the line class, fly rod and junior record categories include the barbell, black grouper, blacktip shark, buri or Japanese amberjack, gilthead seabream, gray snapper, hickory shad and Orinoco peacock.
As expected, the newly published 2008 world record book officially lists Adam Konrad's controversial 43-pound, 10-ounce rainbow trout as the new all-tackle record for the species, breaking a record that had stood for 37 years. In all, the IGFA received 734 world record applications in 2007, granting 495 new records in the process.

So, I have to pay 40 bucks to even see what the world records ARE?
A bit out of my budget range, sorry.
