Gear Update: Fishing for a Bargain
Tuesday August 21, 2007
According to the American Sportfishing Association, 40 million anglers spending more than $40 billion on fishing rods, reels and supplies each year. That means each of us is spending an average of $1,000 annually on this hobby of ours. And fly fishing, as my wife will tell you, can cost even more with all the hundred-dollar rods and reels that have flooded the market in recent years. Luckily most seasoned fly fishers have deep pockets or are poor penny pinchers who have nothing else to do but fly fish. For the latter, I offer my running list of clearance sites for cheap anglers.
